Default Meeting someone while traveling?

Hello,

I have a question. Let say you are a single traveler. Is it easy to meet someone while traveling? How do you go about meeting that person? casual conversation...in club/bar?

I am wondering cause when you are traveling, everyone is a stranger. It would seem that meeting someone while traveling would be difficult.

join the travel buddy website. You put your itinerary in and you will get an email from the site telling you about other members that will be in the same town as you, on the same day. Many of these people meet to sight see together or get together for meals. It's a great site for single travelers who love to travel.

Traveling alone is a great way to meet people. Train, airplane, club, park, museum, it can happen anywhere.
Staying in a hostel is always conducive to meeting travel partners.
TravelBuddy looks like a really nice website.

Traveling is one way to meet people, and there have been times I've met up with people on the plane. Of course, its always platonic but a lot of times, interesting.

I always enjoy talking to people I meet while traveling. I believe that many people will tell you very intimate things about themselves if they think they will never see you again...

Most of my friends I met abroad were people I met in hostels. I stay in touch with one Serbian guy in particular whom I met in a hostel in Istanbul. I also struck up conversations with people on the buses (once they realized I was an English-speaker, they wanted to practice).

I know! This is sooooo true....seems like almost everytime I fly this happens. I thought man, I must have some kind of karma goin on but I think you're right, it's more that people are more open when they think they're never gonna see you again.

Take the train - you'll be dining with different people each meal, and there's lots of opportunity to continue the socializing over drinks and/or while watching the scenery roll by.
As well as places to move to if you don't enjoy the company.

I've always found it very easy to meet people while traveling alone. Like Mississippienne, I generally stay in hostels which are generally full of interesting, mostly single, travelers from around the world and everyone is usually very sociable, eager to practice another language (usually English), share travel tips, and to maybe have a partner to pal around with even if only for one day. I too am still in contact with a few random people I've met over the years.

We also like staying at bed & breakfast inns when we travel and find our fellow guests most interesting to talk with. Over the years, we've kept in contact with several people tht we've met at b & b's.
