Probably safer. Eritrea is great. ZERO tourist facilities though. The plus side is that everything is super cheap.

It's the only place I've ever gone out and gotten liquored up for less than an equivalent of a dollar or two. At the time 1 USD=22 Nakfa. 1 Beer=3 Nakfa

The rest of the math really takes care of itself.

I have been to over 70 countries. If people in America could all see the third world we would have a softer more gentle country. I still not not believe how people live in these places. So many places where people just throw their trash out in the street. Garbage pick up in a luxury in most of the world.

Jailed in Europe, still waiting to cross an ocean or continent some day. Perhaps China next year for the Olympics... or will catch the last boat to America.

Far less than 70!
But I really don't know how many, I don't have a mental list.
I tend to go back to the same countries over and over again; I really like Europe. Am hoping to eventually see more of eastern Europe.
(I agree that airports don't count.)

Let's see:
Vancouver, Canada
Mexico
Guatemala
Cayman Islands
Jamaica
Bahamas
Virgin Islands
British Virgin Islands
Spain
Italy
France
the Netherlands
Scotland
Ireland
England
Wales
Germany
Austria
Luxembourg
Greece
Montenegro
Bosnia Herzegovina
Croatia
I think that's it, unless I left off some little Caribbean island someplace.

I know there are one or two more, I can't member them at this point. But, I still want to go to Russia some day, I hear the people are nice.
