If there's any interest in it I will pass along our experiences and observations. We have been many times, but we seem to always find something new when we go.

We rented an Xterra this time so we went off the strip a lot.

Also took a bus tour to the Grand Canyon.

If you're interested let me know and I'll continue.

My daughter and her husband just got back, they were there fro the weekend of their anniversary and had tons of fun. We're talking about possibly going in a couple of months but it would have to be after my other daughter has her baby, we dont wanna miss that special event.

Default Grand Canyon trip

This was a 16 hour trip by bus to the canyon. We had two "hurry up" stops at the canyon then back on the road. I would recommend a different way of getting there.

The dam. It's big! They are building a bridge over the canyon so future travel will not go over the dam. Security concerns. It's hard to tell in this picture, but the lake level is way down, something like 18-20 feet if I remember correctly.

The canyon. Three pics to show it's size and beauty. There are others in books, etc that are better so I tried not to get too carried away.

Wow, great pictures,TekFreek. Been to Vegas, but still have to get to the Grand Canyon. As to the Dam, it's huge! But, boy the water level in Lake Mead IS really low. When I was there, it was really high - couldn't see anything but the very tops of those towers.

For anyone planning a trip to Vegas, another cool site is the Valley of Fire. It's about an hour outside Vegas, and is really an amazing park. They filmed Star Trek Generations there, and it has the Sandstone and Limestome Formations. Definitely worth the ride - especially in a convertible!
