What would be a quick super cheap RT flight out MSP? I would like to take a quick 2 day "trip" somewhere, anywhere really.
I have not been on a flight in 3 years, since it costs so much with all the kids we have.
I'm just going to book a quick flight and go, I miss flying and always see these $99 RT ads but none of the flights seem to be leaving from MSP.
Any suggestions?

It will be more than $99, but the two best buys for RT flights out of Minneapolis are Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth.

Many shorter destinations are more expensive.

Thanks, I'll check these out. It's almost like I want to go on an amusement ride, just a really big one.

There aren't many cheap flights out of MSP, to be honest.

You can always keep an eye on SWA and use their Low Fare Calender.

I use airfarewatchdog for updates on Madison and MSP.

For amusement, you can try San Antonio (six flags)

For the most exciting flights and landings, SLC, Denver, and Colorado Springs seem to have the most Wind Shear of commercial airports.

I used to really like the old Hong Kong airport. When the wing of the 747 was striking the match for the Marlboro Man (Billboard on Apartment building), you knew you were almost ready for a hard bank to the right, and drop out of sky onto the runway.

You NEVER know what you will find in a given wee. This week, there has been a fare between Chicago O'Hare to Trenton, NJ for $68 RT.

Out of MSP, thej only cheap fares this week have been to Chicago.

I miss the cheap fares we used to have, it's so hard to find any bargins now. I will check out airfarewatchdog.com.

Anyone remember Hobbit Travel and their weekly ad with specials? I loved that and and went on many spur of the moment trips. My best one was $99 RT to Hawaii for a week! and only $249 for air and hotel included hotel.

There are few specials as we are entering the summer season. Airlines, with their limited inventory, are not in a hurry to discount at this point.

MSP is my home airport, or at least the airport that most flights from DLH (my true home airport) went through (there were also direct flights from Duluth to Detroit; now we have Chicago, although I can't remember the precise airport). MSP was famously expensive even in the era of cheap flights, apparently because NWA ran most of the place. I get several travel newsletters in my E-mail, and most of them under the "Flights" section say "Fly to Chicago for $xxx!". That's how lame it still is. Chicago and Minneapolis are what, 6-7 hours by car?

In fact, I can find airfares from Duluth often for just $50 - $100 above those leaving from MSP. For some there is virtually no difference in price.

However, I have seen SOME excellent international deals, especially in the Spring of 2006. MSP -> Tokyo R/T for only $650. MSP -> London R/T for only $450. To have those kind of fares again....
