I travel a lot for work, and often work in my hotel room quite a bit.
One thing that is common across the world, and requires attention, (IMHO) is the hotel room work desk.
Almost every hotel puts the work desk right in front of the air conditioner/heater.

So, when you are trying to browse the internet, or respond to emails, attend a conference call, or whatever you are doing at the desk, you must deal with the air blowing on you, and the noise (Why are these things so damned NOISY? But I guess that may be a whole other complaint)

I ask fellow travelers to assist me in starting a campaign to get hotels to re-design their room so that the work desk is away from the air handler. Think how many cramped muscles and even colds can be prevented.

Hmm I've yet to have the desk in front of heater or a/c. Usually in a corner or across from the foot of the bed

My pet peeve is hotels that don't have power outlets on or near the work desk. I've seen them on the floor by the bed, that's common. Or worst case, in a hotel in Lisbon, in a closet. I've ended up charging my phone or table in the bathroom! Haven't noticed the AC problem.

I do 60 -80% of my time on the road & 6-8 hrs / day phone conferences (usually all night)... I LIKE my noisy AC to mask the 'other' noise.

I will admit the air quality is pretty bad (especially in China). But in Asia COOL is often welcome.

I also prefer a noisy fan. If it's too quiet I can hear thumping around or TVs in other rooms when I am trying to sleep. I can usually sleep to the white noise of the fan

I just spent 2 nights at a hotel here in the USA. The desk was not next to the air-conditioner. Also the lamp on the desk had an outlet in it which made charging a phone or computer very easy and accessible.

We just stayed in a motel in WI and the desk was right next to the AC unit and the air blew right up your back.

I don't have as much of a problem with the AC placement, but more the issue with outlets being in awkward places.
