Default What's your favorite cruise line and why?

We love Princess--we have been on several cruises with them. They have good food--great choices, but not too frou-frou, they have lots of activities and entertainment (love the new Movies Under the Stars offerings on some of their ships), and we like the layout and decor of their ships.

What are some of your favorite cruise lines, and why? We are looking to try some others for variety.

We like Crystal Cruises. The ships don't have so many people that you feel like you're in Mexico City and they don't have so few as to be a ghost town. Crystal usually caters to an upper scale clientele, so you are not likely to have to deal with a bunch of beer guzzling drunks puking all over the ship. The food and service are excellent, the cabins are larger than most other cruise lines and you get to spend more time in port than other lines.

Ok, it's time to bring this thread up to the top and see what other people's experiences are on cruises. so far, those two posts seem really good. There are so many cruises out there, it's hard to see which one would be a good fit. Do they have cruises to Hawaii or is it mostly to places in Mexico, Caribbean and such?

We've been on 9 cruises, 7 with Princess if that means anything to you as far as great experiences.
Carnival is popular with the younger party people and children groups. Princess, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Royal Carribean seem to cater more to the older mature folks.
Crystal and other small ships are also quite good and cater to a more sophisticated class.
One thing we've discovered is that the smaller ships are better all around than the over crowded larger ships.
You can find cruises to anywhere in the world today from 3 days to 120 days.

They have always been real nice to me, and went the extra step. I even got a terry

Go to Princess.com and click on their registry of ships. The ones that show under 2000 passengers/crew are their smaller ships. The others that show 2000-4000 passengers/crew are their larger ships.
The less passengers, the less hassles all around, onboard and on land tours.
There are other cruise lines with ships that carry under 1000 passengers. Most of those smaller ships are more expensive as they cater more to service, your whims, and usually have many more expensive amenities.
