Google maps is showing 3 different routes and I want to know which one will be better for winter travel to avoid traffic/bad winter weather.

The 3 routes are:

I-80 E
US 287 S
I-40 E and US 287 S

Thanks

You could run into winter weather almost anywhere. I-40 is really out-of-the-way. I would take I-80 east through Wyoming, then take I 25 S. to Raton New Mexico, and US 87 from Raton to Dumas, Texas. From there I would take 287 all the Way to DFW.

I take I-80 to Laramie, 287 to Ft Collins, I-25 to Denver, I-70 to Kansas and I-135 / 35 to Dallas. ONLY Den will have traffic, so... take the 470 tollway or go at night or on a weekend. (or take backroads around DEN... VERY ez / fast to do... follow the routes to airport)

Watch the weather, you have about a 60-70% chance of making it on 100% clear roads during most of the winter.
I use this site Climate Prediction Center - 8 to 14 Day Outlook (Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas can change in a minute, so be wise, be prepared.
