My family is making a trip to Disney World in March for our Spring break. It will be my husband, 6 yr old daughter and me. They love riding all of the rides but I don't. I get really bad motion sickness on rides and I want some suggestions on things I can do so that I am not standing around waiting on them. Is there anything that I can enjoy? I have tried taking Dramamine but it doesn't help.

My husband wants me to enjoy our vacation but we promised our little girl we would take her. The last time I was at Disney I was 7 years old and I am now 45 so I have no idea what all they have there.

Suggestions???

Steph

Talk to your doctor about the scopamine patches.

Dramamine isn't very useful, since it doesn't work all that well and it makes most people sleepy.

Not all the rides are ones that throw you around, so there will be rides for you, too. There is shopping and what-not, but you would have to be willing to be separated from your family and you go one way and they go another.

There is usually a Cast Member (what Disney calls their park employees) posted at the queues for each ride. They'll be more than happy to describe the ride to you and help you figure out if it's something you can ride.

Most of the rides at Disney world are not bad at all. The only rides which I would say can give you motion sickness easily are Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and the rides which go in circles or the tea cups. Besides for that you should be fine.

Take Dramamine for motion sickness prior to riding anything like splash mountain, space mountain or other coaters at Universal/MGM Studios.

20,000 leagues under the sea closed a long time ago.

Avoid all the roller coasters plus Mission Space (even the tamer green side), Dinosaur, Tower of Terror and the Teacups.

I would avoid taking medications. They likely won't help for a short intense ride (they are designed for long helicopter/boat rides) and many make you drowsy.
