Hello all,
My MIL is wanting to travel from CA to NC via train and she has an "unavoidable" layover in New Orleans. Anyone know anything about the waiting room in the station and how secure it is? Her layover is from midnight to 7AM and so it's a deal breaker. Either it's safe and she can stay or it isn't and she can't travel that way.
Thanks!

I wouldn't .....book a hotel close and take a cab to hotel and back to Amtrak in the morning

Plus it shows hours of operation is from 5AM to 10PM so not even sure if she could hang there for 7 hours between midnight and 7AM.
Look for a hotel in Central Business District where Amtrak is located. There are always available cabs at Amtrak and hotel can call for one in morning

No way would I have anybody staying all night in an Amtrak terminal. Besides the obvious answer of flying instead of train, have her get a hotel.

Thank you! You are right, it is closed and so it's not an option to stay there. But it turns out that her stop is earlier- closer to 10pm so she can get a room.

A room is worth every penny. She can grab something to eat and get a good nights sleep and be safe before the next leg of her train ride.
