Barbados is wonderful. Education is highly regarded there and it shows. There is one side of the island that had waves( Bathsheba, for instance) and the other side has calm seas. The island is beautiful and generally safe compared to other Caribbean islands.
I used to work on a cruise ship, so I became very familiar with the Caribbean islands. Barbardos was NOT one of my favorites. The island is not beautiful like St. Lucia, Granada, or some of the others; it's beaches are just okay, not that nice; on top of that I found it expensive and not a good value. What I did like about Barbados was the restaurant and bar scene. I had some wonderful meals there. The people seemed friendly, too; it is not as dangerous as some other the other places in the West Indies. They have a famous rum called Mount Gay.

This. The Atlantic side for waves. Caribbean side for the postcard perfect calm beaches. The people are lovely.
Adding-culturally very British and conservative. Not a "party" island.
