What's the best way to get from BWI Airport to Alexandria, Virginia? To save a huge amount of money, I decided to fly into BWI instead of Reagan National Airport or Dullles. I'm not beyond taking trains, subways, buses, but if you know, please be as descriptive as you can. Money isn't a problem, but I'd prefer not to have to do something like take a taxi.

I have to leave tomorrow, so I'd appreciate this last minute help

WMATA | BWI Airport - Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport

Washington Metro will then take you to Alexandria, Virginia.

Yep. Take the Express to Greenbelt Metro. Depending on time of day, you can take the Yellow Line straight to the King St. station, Or if Yellow isn't running at Greenbelt, take the Green Line and transfer to Yellow somewhere along the way.

As noted above... the trains will do you.

I'd suggest a hotel in DC proper though... near Union station if possible.
Break up the trip and have some off hour things to do close by.

One time I had to fly into BWI because of a blizzard or something like that. Anyway, when it came time to go to Alexandria, I took the SuperShuttle. I think it cost me about $40.

For what it is worth the MARC Train also runs from BWI to Union Station in DC.
