My best deal was $50 per night for a suite that had separate living / bedroom / work area, free internet and hot breakfast buffet, washer & dryer in unit, and free parking. I used priceline for that. I use Priceline and Hotwire almost exclusively for hotels and car rentals whether in the US or international (whereever they offer) and have never been disappointed.

This was many years ago, but ... it was at a pensione in Venice. About $20 a night for two of us, a huge high-ceilinged room with big windows that looked out over the Grand Canal and the Rialto bridge. Fabulous.

And then there was a trip in Norway. We'd booked the only room we could find (expensive, to us, at about $150) in Bergen. The train got there so late, that they had to bump us up to the Presidential Suite. Fabulous room. We opted to spend the day lazing in the room (or should I say rooms) until checkout time, rather than going out, in order to get our money's worth!
