I was on a plane to CA. I chatted with a young lady named "Amy Devano" who happened to be from Wisconsin. For no particular reason, I remembered the name. F'fwd three months. I'm driving x-country with a friend in the middle of Montana. We go to a bar. Some people there say they're from Wisconsin. I jokingly say, "oh, you must know Amy Devano then!" The girl there looks really surprised and shows me the ID card of the same Amy Devano I had met months earlier 1000+ miles away and 30K' up. She'd been using it as her fake ID and had never met its actual owner.

I've had a few random encounters. The most recent one was about a month ago when I ran into an old friend in LAX.

On about three different occasions I've run into folks from my little town (35,000 pop.) all over the country....Florida, Colorado and Washington DC. For small town folks we apparently move around..

Also, one time (1980s) my wife and I were in a motel outside Chicago...a big rambling Ramada Inn. The hallways were like a maze. We went around a corner and ran smack into Pearl Bailey and Louie Bellson who were lost and trying to find the restaurant. We gave them directions, everybody smiled and joked about being lost and we went on our way.

We were in Amsterdam with our son who was 6 years old. We bumped into my husband's ex-wife, who was travelling with her son, doing a bike trip around Holland.

Oh, and again in Amsterdam, this one was years ago. We had met a couple from Vancouver when we were hanging out in the Costa del Sol in Spain the previous winter, we hung out with them a bit. Months later we walked into the Heineken Brewery and there they were! (Later on, I lived with the guy for 6 years, but that's another story.)

LOL… Yeah I doubt I'll ever beat that one myself. By buddy (who was also there) and I still tell that one a lot. Crazy. And the girl whose card it was still has no idea.

But how do you know that she was using a fake ID? Couldn't they have been two different Amy Devanos?

The girl at the bar showed it to me and told me it was her fake ID which she'd gotten through some third party and the picture on it was unquestionably of the girl I'd met on the plane, NOT the girl in the bar.

Being from Minnesota, I was walking around La Esperanza Honduras, one day, and spotted a school bus with Bemidji, MN School District printed on the bus. ????? How did that bus get here?

I do know they convert our school buses from the U.S. into their transport/chicken buses, but still, how did that bus come all that way to Honduras to that small town?
