Provide the name of hotel and location if possible. And most importantly, let us know if you enjoyed the stay or loved the hotel/ room for the price!
$2 in 2010, Puerto Galera, Philippines. Had a little two person hut on the beach. I really enjoyed it.

We paid $40 US a night for a hotel room on the beach in Maroochydore Australia back in 1990. It had a waterbed and a sky light in the bathroom. It was so cute, loved it. It sure had the $750 a night room in Hawaii beat where we stayed on the way back home.

I guess all the Vegas people (especially the comps) have me beat but FWIW I believe I once paid $40/night for a few days at the Artist Formerly Known As Bill's Gambling Hall (and about to become the "luxe" $299/night Cromwell).

Not really a hotel...more like a private room in a large house I found. I had eye surgery in Manila...I needed a quiet place where I can recuperate for a month. $9.30 per day...private room, with private bath and access to dining, kitchen, laundry. Oh...included a maid who took care of my needs...she cooked, shopped, cleaned my room, washed my clothes....even helped me bathe (doctor's order that I would need help when bathing). No extra charge for the maid....but I gave her a big tip ($20; for her, that's a whole month's pay) when I left a month after. Enjoyed my stay and recuperation (of course).

Also stayed at a local (obviously not for rich American and European tourists) hotel just outside Manila once. Clean, excellent food and services...just the basics (I can't stand all those frivolous amenities they offer which you don't need or use...but charge you more for them). $16.00. In comparison, I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Manila (when I didn't know any better)....$80. That was the most I've paid there. Expect to pay a LOT more nowadays.

Cheaper even...places away from Manila. There are others that can also be just as expensive as hotels in New York or Los Angeles.

Also stayed at a Business Hotel in Fukuoka, Japan. Cheap ($20)...but very small. You had to walk sideways between the tiny bed (your feet will overextend the length of the bed) and wall to get to the closets. It was ok if you are not claustrophobic.

I haven't found hotels elsewhere in my travels around the world and the U.S., that would match or beat the lower prices I paid in the Philippines.

Your question said...the least you've paid...for a hotel. Didn't say where.

$14.95 on a storm night in Reno.
$19.95 at a Fairfield Inn in Jackson, TN
$18 on several bids through Priceline in 2002-2003

And numerous free nights at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. (I do not gamble.)

Less than $40 for a delightful bed and glorious breakfast in Ireland,(Kerry) about 20 years ago. I'm sure they've raised the prices since then but they're all price-controlled by the government so probably still very reasonable. My husband couldn't believe the low rates, so I sent him to pay the bill himself. Then he was convinced.

Tune Hotel, Edinburgh. 15 for a double but had to add on towels and toiletries for 2 each. So 19. Comfortable, clean, pleasant decor, great location. Just small.

This was just this past March.

Back in the "King Dollar" era of the mid 1980s, I stayed in a nice mountainside hotel in the Swiss Alps for about $9 a day; today, with inflation and the depressed $, that would run you around $250 a day.
