On a regular basis the least I pay is 0

When I have an Appointment in the morning at a VA hospital over 100 miles away I can go the day before and the VA pays the tab for the night. Usually I get to pick some pretty good hotels.

$35 in Winston-Salem, NC at a brand-new Microtel. I was in town for my alma mater's homecoming - I think it was a discount for students and alums. This was sometime between maybe 2002-2003-ish. Since the room was brand new, the room was nice and I have no complaints about the stay that first year.

If my memory serves me, I think I stayed there again the next year and the hotel had gone to pot (literally AND figuratively).

I'm not a broke new graduate now, so I've upgraded my hotels.

$36 for a weeknight at the Spirit of the Smokies condo hotel in Pigeon Forge TN. This was in April in 2011. It was a nice king sized bed with a hot tub in the room. Clean, with wifi and cable and right on the main strip. Great deal!

$10 in Flagstaff in 1989 (I think). An old hotel that was being renovated, and they rented out the un-renovated rooms as a hostel. Kitchen and bathroom down the hall. Loved it!

Provide the name of hotel and location if possible. And most importantly, let us know if you enjoyed the stay or loved the hotel/ room for the price!
I paid 50 cents to stay at the New Sunrise Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1991. Except for the lack of electricity for most of the day and lack of hot water (and no water at all sometimes), I enjoyed the stay.

$6 at a Motel 6 (that's how they got their name) in 1965. It was a pretty decent room for the time. It had a TV.

Back when the rates were $6, you had to pay for the TV. There was a coin slot attached to the TV.

Do hostels count? If so, 10 Euros for a shared room in Barcelona, Spain.

In 2009 I paid about 13-15 dollars for a hotel in Cartagena, Colombia. It was a pretty decent, tile floors, hot water and air conditioned. If I wanted to pay less I could have gone non air conditioned, but that's just not possible for Cartagena in June.

I don't remember the hotel name, but I do remember that it was light blue and right by the water in Bocagrande.

Now that I think of it, I stayed in a hostel in Boston for around $20/night circa 2000.
