It depends on how long you have and what time of day it is. Sometimes it's an overnight where you just check into a nearby hotel; sometimes you've got time to go into the city and explore; some airports like Seoul Incheon even offer very low cost tours for passengers who have Korean layovers.

I've never been to Colombia before. Are they friendly towards blacks there?
I did a search on Orbitz, they were round trip but I don't know if they were direct flights or not. If I had to guess I would say that it would fly to LAX and then for there to TYO.

Colombia is a nice place, pretty safe and a lot of cool things to do.. and awesome food. Definitely my favorite food of South America and maybe the world.

I don't know how they are towards blacks because I am white. I have been told by some people that blacks don't get as nice of treatment.. but I think they're referring to black Colombians. Remember, when you're in South America you will be seen as an American. I think you'd be more apt to face adversity in some of the Asian countries over South American (not saying that Asians are racist, but if I had to make a guess I'd say you'd face less in South America)

On layovers? I walk a bit, then I eat and drink bloody marys.
