23 States, I've been all the Southern or Sunbelt States
but the irony thing is I'm a Northeast Region lover and never been any of the states before

47 states, still missing New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I've seen Arkansas from across the Mississippi river, just never made it there. I'd like to get to all 50, but Oklahoma and Arkansas are going to be tough to sell as a vacation spot to the wife.

No offense intended, but that is so sad. The Western US is so different than the rest of the country and represents the other end of the spectrum by so many measurements. I hope you get to see it all some day and as millions before you have decided, it is the best that this country has to offer in terms of natural beauty and the pristine vistas that look largely the same today as when Lewis and Clark first set foot on them.

I realized I have only been to 19 states, but I have been to 11 different countries. Have not been to the Northwest or Midwest sates. It just seems to work out that I keep returning to Latin America. I would love to visit Washington, New York, Massachusetts , Idaho, and alaska.

My child has only been to 4 states, but has visited 4 other countries.

California (my current residence)
Arizona (formerly lived there)
Texas (formerly lived there)
New Mexico (drove through there, perhaps with a stop or two)
Nevada (visited there)
Utah (visited there)
Michigan (been there, but only at the airport)
New York (been there, but only at the airport)

Thus, unless I am forgetting a U.S. state, using a broad definition, I visited eight U.S. states in total so far.
