I don't know how you guys are listing them.

I've made an actual trip to 15 states, however I have passed through many more.

There are only two states I've only passed through incidentally (Missouri and Kentucky). I included them.

I should also mention I didn't include states I've only flown over...I thought that was pretty obvious. LOL

Something else I realized - In addition to the 20 states I've been to, looking back I've been within a few miles (literally less than five) of four more. I wish I had made the trek to them at least for a few hours.

I don't count drive/fly through only states. Have to stay a night at the very least, and "do something" there.

The only ones I can't list as having visited are:

Georgia
Louisiana
Alabama
Tennessee
Arkansas
Kansas (almost)
Mississippi
No. Dakota

I have spent at least one night and worked at least one day in the 48 contiguous as well as the territories/districts I listed.

Let's see. Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, South Dakota, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, D.C., West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky.

That's 31 plus D.C. Pretty good for a Canadian, although there's a big hole in the middle of my list. Gotta get going!

Same here. In my case:

Maryland
Virginia
West Virginia
Pennsylvania
North Carolina

I also go to DC on a regular basis. I went to New York, Ohio and Ontario when I was an infant but I don't count any of that.

I know people who have never left their state. Just means they don't like to travel or don't have the means to travel. Nothing wrong with that.

I agree. I've been to every state, most of them multiple times, but that has nothing to do with being american. I would have liked to see more foreign lands, but it's more expensive and difficult and I never get tired of the scenery int he western US so I tend to stay closer. It has nothing to do with nationalism.
