Or perhaps, a mix of the two?

For me, since I want to see as much of the world as possible I plan on visiting a new country/countries each trip, instead of going back to ones i've been, with the exception of Singapore/Malaysia because of relatives and friends, and because they're a hub for Asia. I know some people, especially those with families, who go to the same place year after year. Still, there are a few countries I want to return to, like the US, China, but because they're so big and I want to explore other parts of them. Or even within your own country, do you prefer to explore new places or go back to your favourite places?

It is a mix of the two. I have been to over 50 countries, I have no interest in visiting third world type countries (been to a few, not impressed, gets old real quick), so that leaves revisiting the same countries which I do not mind. I would like to get down to Australia and New Zealand, I have not been there yet.

Both, it's relaxing when you have familiarity in a place. You can literally come out of the airport, jump in a car and 10 minutes later be enjoying your favorite beverage on your favorite beach spot. I like familiar visits because I can accomplish a lot in a little amount of time, all I need is 2-3 days to get my fill. Newer places will take a bit longer to get the hang of.

If I have the chance to go somewhere new, I take it.

I'm a 'check it off the list' kind of guy.

It isn't a matter of country, but going somewhere i haven't been yet. Thus, i don't want to revisit the same city again until i visit all the other cities which i haven't visited yet that is on my list...haha

I want to see so much of the world... on the other hand, I really do want to see Paris again, I fell in love with the place upon first sight. Sigh.

For countries, I would go somewhere new every time unless I had a specific reason. I'll probably be back and forth in Chile for a while.

However, I'm not a big fan of re-visiting another country because if I'm going to spend the money to travel I'd want to go somewhere new.

My city I always travel to is Miami. I try to visit at least once a year after I moved away.

Mix of the two for us. We usually return to favorite places for long weekends a couple times a year and spend a couple of weeks exploring a new part of the world each year as well.

We are also a mix. Some of the places we visit are because we have family or friends there - like the US & Australia, and friends in Uganda (where we lived for 2 years). We went to a family wedding in Thailand earlier this year and loved it so much we are going back for a couple of months this winter.

We are revisiting Belgium shortly. Will revisit France but will go explore areas we haven't been to yet. Might go back to Italy sometime in the future, but to a different region.

We still have a long list of places to visit, including parts of the UK I've never been to.
