Hi,

I red really qiuck help. I have a flight from the US to Europe tonight and I can't find my passport. I looked everywhere and nothing. I thought it would be where it always is but it's not. Now I only have my National ID card and a copy of my passport. I'm a European citizen. I guess that will not be enough to travel?
What can I do now?

Thanks

If you're convinced that it is definitely gone (permanently lost or stolen), not just misplaced, you should file a police report. Are you in a city with an embassy from your home country in it?

Contact the nearest embassy of your home country and find out how to proceed.

I'd check with the airline and see if they'll let you get on the flight without it. I doubt it, but once you make it back to Europe with your ID and a copy of your passport, I would assume you'd be let in.

If not, the local consulate might be able to furnish either a new passport or some temp. travel documents that will get you on the plane.

Contact the embassy and extend your hotel stay. It's going to take several days. Happened to a friend who lost his US passport at Heathrow Airport en route to France.
