It would be nice to find people to travel the way I like to but seeing as how I have not found that since I was in high school, I'm not holding my breath. Next summer I will be joining a tour group on a vacation hopefully. I'm hoping it will be people who are similar to me. Maybe that's how people find fellow travelers.

We didn't take "vacations" for years. Partially it was expense but mostly it was because when we were off (Christmas, Easter some years, etc.) we went to visit our parents so they could see the kids. I think you'll find that common with many families.

I do have a convention I go to in Ocean City which is 3 or 4 days and we would often make that a full week. We also spent another week there this year a couple weeks ago since the convention time was still during school and we could only get a couple days off for it.

The last few years we've tried to get away in the Spring and Fall, for just us, since one or more of the kids is usually there in Ocean City.

Why do you need to?

+1. But I always meet nice people on the road, sharing a taxi, on long bus rides, in the bars - alone but never lonely.

I have also met some interesting people while traveling. Definitely not lonely.

Fine, why do you feel compelled to?

I don't look for other people to travel. I like to see and experience as much of a city / region as I can based on my interests. Accommodation tastes are mid range (at best) based on overall cost benefit of location / transportation options.

Never found need to have someone along (perhaps this has something to do with going on family trips as youth or with siblings and having to appease multiple interests) although, sometimes I wished I did have companion since there is a plus to having shared history experiences in some historical / natural beauty to help make them more memorable.

Overall, I never had problem eating out / traveling etc... by myself - as I look to them as a quasi adventure - no matter the location and feel a slight adrenaline rush when I am traveling. I seem to feel more alive as I experience new places, sights, peoples etc...

I don't feel compelled to nor do I feel the need to. It would be nice, but as I have mentioned in other posts in the thread, I don't mind traveling solo and will continue to do so. I'm in the early stages of planning a solo trip for next summer.

I have traveled solo when I needed to (meaning I was already somewhere and I wanted to take the opportunity to explore) and there was nobody else to go with.
