10 hours in both Atlanta and Minneapolis. No big deal, I was able to take a train in to town and check them out for a few hours, grab a shower, and a bite to eat.

I don't like layovers but if there are no other options i just have to accept it, when booking a flight like this i make sure i will have at least 2 hours time to make it to my connecting flight.

8 hours in Charlotte, NC.

We'll intentionally have a long layover in Dubai on our way to Bangkok this November. We've booked the airport hotel and we finally get to take advantage of its facilities (pool, etc). Usually we book the room for about 6 hours between our 12:30am arrival and our 7 or 8 am departure. But this time we've booked it until 2pm.

Overnight at Newark Airport after flying in from Phoenix and missing my connection to London. Ultimate destination was Nairobi, and I was reunited with my checked bag four days later (fortunately I had enough in my carry-on to tide me over ).

Amending my earlier post... I think I was in PHL even longer by a few minutes traveling MCO>PHL>FCO. My MCO flight landed at 10:20 AM, my flight to FCO left at 6:15 pm. We had a nice lunch with a bottle of wine at Legal Seafoods, and then hung out in the Envoy Lounge until it was time to board. PHL is actually one of my favorite airports to kill time in, so it doesn't bother me to have a long layover or delay there.

MCO is busier than I thought it would be.

Not as busy as newark though.

It just seems that way because EWR is a cluster and more poorly planned than MCO--which isn't saying much.

The reality is that they have nearly identical passenger loads each year. Orlando is getting ready to expand to what will be almost double the size over the next 10 years, and is expected to be in the Top 5 US by 2020.

I detest EWR! Every time we've transferred through there it's been trouble. We used to fly in from Glasgow and transfer to Detroit, often having to change terminals - immigration, pick up and recheck bag, go through security again, etc.

Now we fly into Amsterdam and fly direct to Detroit. Much easier.
