Only time I've ever not gotten a full can of Soda when I asked for it was when I was on a flight back to the Hub, where the plane is not Catered at the "Far End" and the FA were trying to stretch the supply.

Most airline only Catered there Narrow Body planes at there Hubs, or cities where where they have a Major Operations at, Small / Med sized airports they load the plane up with soda.. for the round trips at there Hub.

Not quite. As long as you aren't Muslim, it's quite easy to get a permit that allows you to consume alcohol in your home or specifically permitted bars and restaurants that cater to ex pats.
