My husband and I are planning a vacation to Charleston, SC during the first week of October.
It will be our first time to visit this area.

Does anyone have any advice for us??
1. hotel to stay at
2. restaurants
3. things to do

Thanks for your help!

My gf and I just came back from a 3 night trip to Charleston. I do not know all of the hotels downtown, but I would say any of them in the historic district would be fine. I used hotwire, and got stuck with the Marriott that was techincally downtown, but wasnt walkable to anything.

We mainly made the trip for the food, and it did not disappoint. We mainly ate at all of the staples, only to play it safe and we cant get great Southern/Seafood in Chicago. I would try to make a reservation far ahead at Husk, it is generally rated as the best. We also ate at...
Magnolia (awesome space, and extremely good food, 10/10),
Slightly North of Broad (maybe slightly better than Magnolia only because of a better bar),
Poogans Porch (awesome house right next to Husk, supposedly haunted, appetizers were amazing, gf liked her entree, but I was disappointed in mine),
Pearlz Oyser Bar (they have an awesome happy hour menu, if you find yourself hungry between 4-7 stop by
Hominy grill, Supposedly one of the better breakfast joints in town, it was fine, but wasnt impressed

I would do alot of walking downtown, they have a ton of shops and galleries. I would also do some sort of walking tour (we did a ghost tour which mixed history and a bit of creepiness which we enjoyed). If you are a civil war buff you can visit Ft Sumter (we did, it was cool but pretty time consuming since you need to take a boat). Visit the beaches, they have 3 main ones that are supposedly all unique and nice (we were rained out).

Thanks for the info!
We will try those restaurants! That ghost tour sounds like fun!
Fort Sumter is on my list of things to do. I'll remember to allow for extra time.

Thanks again!
