I would say at least 2/3 of my travels were done alone. I was in Nepal by myself last April. I never had any problems with it, other than the travel itself being boring. ( long flights, train/bus rides).

Sort of. I traveled by myself to two different countries, but I knew some people within those countries. It was fun. I also traveled to Spain and met up with a friend there. Domestically, I've taken a bunch of road trips by myself. I especially love going to Yellowstone. I'm fairly introverted, and really enjoy just being able to do what I want to do and not worry about anything else.

I went on my first solo trip to Germany because air fare was cheap. I got to Berlin just in time to see the wall taken apart and hauled away!

I have also visited Xi'an, China by myself although I did join a small day tour with a couple of other people to see the nearby Terra-Cotta Warriors.

I spent about 3 months in Wilmington, North Carolina by myself and it was great.
No time frames, no worries about cooking for anyone but me if I wanted, not much laundry, go where I wanted, when I wanted and I spent a lot of time at the beach at night by myself.
I spent a couple weeks at Myrtle Beach as well and never did see any of those beaches during the day.

Default I've gone on a long weekend by myself,

in fact have done that several times. Like someone else said, going out to eat by oneself, especially in a touristy place, is a little awkward, but otherwise, I liked it more than I thought I would, and for the same reasons others have said. I took a book and would read at the restaurant. You can eat when and where you want, go where you want, or just sleep in one day if that suits you. The last trip I took with a friend who talked my ear off for 4 solid hours made me take the plunge! It's in your frame of mind. People might wonder why you're by yourself for a second or two, but that's all!

If I don't snuff it before my husband I'll do a lot of traveling alone, depending on my age. If I'm maybe 85 I'll probably do those group tours for oldyuns.
