DH and I are taking a break from SXM and cruising with stops in Portland, Bar Harbor, St. John's, and Halifax on RC Grandeur of the Seas. I want to see Acadia and Peggy's Cove, but other than that, I would like some recommendations from others who have been to these areas.
The cruise line has already e-mailed us about excursions, but I am not sure that I want to be obligated to go on them. I thought that we might just see what is at the cruise pier when we get there.
Has anyone taken an excursion to any of these places where you used a private tour? Any recommendations on what to see? I think that Portland will just be doing some local sightseeing, but any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also, if you have cruised mid-September, what types of clothing did you take? It seems like the weather varies greatly and we will be taking both late-summer and fall clothing, which seems like a lot of clothes to bring. I can go to SXM with a carry-on so I am not used to take lots of clothing.
Thanks for any replies. This is only our second cruise (the first was to Bermuda in the summer), so any ideas would be appreciated.
