That is to say, have you ever forcibly stopped and individual in front of you from fully reclining their seat by exerting force against the back to make them think the seat has hit its maximum recline position?

I have.
I plan on doing it again.
Yeah, because as an extravert you're so great at working with others
All I can say is: your strategy may work for now, but there will come a time when the guy ahead figures out you're the one stopping him. And when that happens, it's not going to be pretty.
If you have the misfortune of someone "abusing" the recline button ahead of you, then ask nicely. It works most of the time (seriously, most people just forget that there's someone behind them and don't at all mean to hurt you)! And if it doesn't, simply call the flight attendant over. Nobody messes with the flight attendant.
One more thing: most people do not recline all the way back, you just think they're trying to. And, actually, one more thing: if the guy ahead of you is really strong, you could end up hurting your leg if you try to force. So just don't do it. It's not worth it and, honestly, it makes you look quite idiotic. I feel worse for the guy ahead of you!
I'm 6' 2". Most times I get seats with more legroom. If I'm forced into regular coach, I barely have any room without the seat being reclined. I never recline mine as I know what it's like and I think it's inconsiderate. I've dug my knees into the back of the seat in front of me to prevent them from reclining. The little extra comfort they get from reclining puts me in agony for hours. I actually had a flight attendant ask the person in front of me to put their seat up when she saw how stuffed in there I was.
I have the right to a lot of things in life. But my rights don't make it alright to cause other people pain and discomfort. If you feel the need to recline your seat, at least take into account the person behind you and ask. Common courtesy goes a long ways.
I won't "ask" but I do glance back and if they are using a laptop or have a drink on the tray table I'll warn them and go slowly. Of course if they are an ass about it I slam the seat back as hard as I can.
I don't recline out of respect to fellow passengers. One time a inconsiderate lady in front of me reclined to full max and was practically in my lap. I politely asked her to move in up a notch or two and she got belligerent. The stewardess asked he to please be considerate but she was indignant and refused. So I proceeded to get up every 5 minutes to go to the bathroom bumping her quite hard each time so she couldn't sleep. After about an 1/2 hour of this she finally moved it up.
