Detroit, Michigan and Gary, Indiana are on my bucket list big time. Well I've been to Gary once and want to go back and spend a month. I could go to Pittsburgh as well and have a blast. I have never had a desire to go across the ocean and never will. There are more than enough places in my own state, and the country I want to see...

I want to spend the winter holidays in Karelia, a month or so.
The Northern lights and especially the old world holiday traditions of the Orthodox Russians and Finnish people really calls to me. I'm not a big seafood lover though, thank goodness for vodka!

And what's attractive about Okinawa? Curious.

Nowhere is off limits anymore (well, except the obvious -- Iraq, Syria, Western Africa....)
Switch out Bora Bora for Moorea--it's the most beautiful island (imho), especially when see from the water. And it's cheaper than BB. Bora Bora has the most beautiful lagoon. And the most beautiful iconic silhouette when seen from a distance. But it's more touristy than anywhere else on the islands.

Well, people use this term generically to denote French Polynesia, which is actually 5 archipelagoes of islands, but even if you just talk about the Society Islands, with Tahiti the "hub" as it were, definitely not overrated. The island of Tahiti itself is beautiful, but you have to get out of Papeete, the capitol first, and that's tough. But the other islands are all extraordinarily beautiful--Moorea, Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a, etc. Definitely NOT over-rated.

Oh, and my bucket list, such as it is, most of which are probably pipe dreams at this point:

- Galapagos
- Egypt
- Angkor Wat (just missed it last year)
- New Zealand
- Upper Amazon from Peru
- African Safari

More realistic possible trips:
- Japan
- European river cruise
- Italy

Places that I loved visiting, some of which were bucket list items, and many of which I would love to go back to:

- Portugal
- Greece
- French Polynesia (yes, "Tahiti"!)
- Southeast Asia: Thailand, Laos
- Brazil

I've been to all of those, I found them overrated. Worth going only after you've crossed off the other places on your bucket list.

Well, I respectfully disagree. I admit I've only been to Huahine once, and have only seen Taha'a from a distance (from a motu, actually), but Moorea is awesome.

It's their bucket list, not yours.
