I'm thinking about taking a train instead of the usual drive/fly to Seattle, WA. I figured it would give me the chance to take in a scenic view without neither my wife or I driving. Has anyone done it? How were the amenities, service, comfortability, etc. Do they have a bed? or what are the arrangements? Any information would be wonderful! Thank you.

Regards

I have done it, though it was maybe 15 years ago, and my mother has done it fairly recently.

Sleeper cars are available, though they are pricey. It's only overnight, so I found it not that bad to just sleep in my seat- they are fairly big on the Coast Starlight.

There is a dining car and an observation car, so you have opportunities to move around. The view is quite nice.

Delays can and do happen, so don't be too shocked if one occurs. That's what happens when passenger and freight trains share the same rails.
