If you are taking 12 pair of shoes, split them up into two bags or your luggage will not pass the weight restrictions. Pack them around the perimeter of your bag, soles facing out. Also, stuff them with clothes.

My husband would have a cow...lol
Why would your husband care what you pack? My husband doesn't even know what I pack.

Just because it is you doesn't make it everyone.
I'm a great packer. I've done weeks in Europe with a roller board and a leather backpack. I've also done a week in the BVIs with the same thing.
That said, I had at least four pairs of shoes with me.

he wouldn't until we arrived at destination and seen all those shoes in the room closet...lol
Whatever!!! The days of free baggage unless you're flying first class is over and they enforce overweight fees..pack away all those shoes

I remember the good ole days of 2 bags free at 32kg each. Sigh. Weight and number of shoes was never an issue.
Good grief, who cares how many pairs of shoes she takes? It's her vacation, she's the one packing & dealing w/the luggage, enough said.
This thread has got me laughing lol
Of course I don't need to pack 12 pairs of shoes
I'm obviously indecisive and 'want' to have options for all the outfits I'm bringing, however. I'll post pics of the shoes I'm bringing later. I'm going from Chicago to MIA and Lord knows when I come back from MIA, it'll be a long time before I can sport any of my warm weather shoes (or clothing) again
Thanks for the ideas so far; looks like most people are wrapping them separately in grocery bags. I guess I'll be going that route...? I will take a look and see if there are any I can leave at home but I'm sure most of them will end up going with
I seriously don't like the idea of grocery bags, the dye can run and ruin whatever it comes into contact with.Been there and done that, to my regret. I'd rather spend a few dollars and buy gallon size storage bags, small plain trash bags, or even one of those hanging cloth shoe organizers, if they'll fit the suitcase.
Yes, the shower cap idea sounds great. I can get a bag of the clear ones from Sally's for like $3.
You can get them for free from most decent hotels. If you have a friend who travels for business a lot, ask them to save them for you.
