Many times people are comfortable enough to ask, hey chris. Where are you from.

My response, I am Hawaiian dude.
People. Oh wow. Yeah which island?
My response. The big one, oh yeah it's beautiful. Nice clear water, good food, lots to see and do.
People: wow what brings you to texas
My response: work, had to get off the vacation life.

I can go on and on. It's fun.

Never been to hawaii
Well, aren't you clever? You do realize that all Asians don't look alike, right? Because Hawaiians have a distinctly different facial makeup.

I would call BS on you.

Kind of like saying all Mexicans look alike, right?

I love looking like a local. Less harassment and almost no one bugging me to buy the same stuff the other people I passed 'made.'

I was in a TJ Maxx the other day, just looking at candles when a customer walked up to me and started asking me questions, thinking I was an employee. I guess that counts as "looking like a local." I totally lied to her and told her the candles were all free and she should just scoop up a cart load and waltz out the door with them. Was that wrong?
