Even here in Ukraine, with not very hot summers, A/C is rather common. It's quite common even on much higher latitudes in Russia (a building in Perm, for example).

Maybe not exactly what you were asking but we did move up our original plans to avoid losing an hour of daylight due to daylight savings time on the last couple of days.
