Jetlag not so much - the key is to push yourself and make your arrival day a full one so you sleep at the new time, not your "old" time. To me, it's not jetlag as just a full day on a plane/in airports that drains my energy. But I guess it all amounts to the same thing!

I used to think jet lag didn't affect me until I flew from Boston to Hawaii and back.

The first time I went I picked a night time starting flight for the return flight from Hawaii to Boston, which means I was up all day before flying out. Between the 6 hour time difference, the clock going in the wrong direction, and west to east travel, and the fact I cannot sleep on a plane, I ended up being up for 60 hours straight before crashing. It was the worst jet lag I ever had.

I timed the 2nd trips flight much better and wasn't affected.

I flew from Shannon to Hawaii and yes, you get tired, but it wasn't terrible. I think a lot of people exaggerate the effects of jet lag. I had a friend who got off a plane in SFO complaining about jet lag. She had flown from Seattle!!

It's hit or miss for me. Sometimes I have no trouble at all, other times (almost always on the return leg, fortunately) it's all I can do to stay awake until I arrive at my destination.
