I really want to do this, too. I've been able to do so in most of the western states, but I have yet to do so in many of the eastern states.

Do airports count?

41 counting Washington (only was in Seattle airport)

Missing:

North Dakota
South Dakota
Nebraska (I feel lame for missing this one as it's only 300 miles due north of me.
Kentucky (I seem to have traveled all around Kentucky)
Florida
California
Montana
Alaska
Hawaii

I've been to 44 states. I purposely changed planes in Cincinnati once, so I could get Ohio, but I later learned that the airport is in Kentucky.

Still need Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Alaska.

Every state but Alaska and am looking forward to going there someday soon. My father was a school teacher, he had the summers off so he took us in a tiny trailer house around the US. He said we (his 3 children) should know the US. And we did see it up close and personal. What a great experience. It took us 3 summers to see it all. We flew to Hawaii for Christmas but that was the only airplane we took, the rest was driving. My father was a great guy--I did respect and love him...very smart man and father!!

Sweetbeet will become famous soon enoughSweetbeet will become famous soon enoughSweetbeet will become famous soon enough
Let's see... in no particular order...

New York
Connecticut
New Jersey
Pennsylvania
Delaware
Maryland
Louisiana
Ohio
Michigan
Kentucky
Virginia
West Virginia
Florida
Mississippi
Rhode Island
Massachusetts
D.C.
California
Oregon
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Florida

and only airports in
Georgia (Atlanta)
Texas (DFW)

So, 23, not counting airport-only visits.

I think I will get a few more this summer, when we drive cross-country - probably Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Nevada. Then I'll have 29.

(and 19 foreign countries - England, Ireland, France, Netherlands, Spain, Morocco, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong (before it became part of China!), Taiwan, Thailand, Canada, Mexico, not counting airport-only visits!)
