This is really something that is worth trying
Had anyone tried it yet ?
Make sure you take a diesel Hilux and an AK-47 or rocket launcher! (vehicle of choice for insurgents)

I have a friend who rode his motorcycle from Amsterdam to Thailand.

Not of interest to me. I have spent way too much time in the saddle to see that as fun.

You can airship the bike to Thailand and be there in 12 hrs.

There is also the Long Way Round route from London to New York City that was largely done on motorcycle save for the flight between Magadon, Russia and Anchorage, Alaska and a train segment west of Magadon because Siberia's 'Road of Bones' was impassable at that time.

Long Way Round: Journeys - Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's epic motorcycle journey from London to New York

Extended version of the tv miniseries is quite fun, though takes an episode or so to really get going.

The advantage of a motorcycle over a car is that motorcycles are easier to transport by air. There's a whole subculture of "RTW" motorcyclists, with special Internet forums and everything.

They are completely impassible to anyone without months to spare and an enormous expedition budget. The Darien Gap has been crossed by wheeled vehicle only a minuscule handful of times.

Fortunately, there's now a ferry.
