Earlier this year, authorities in Phuket, Thailand banned the use of beach chairs, sunloungers and beach umbrellas on its beaches after hundreds of complaints were received from tourists regarding exhorbitant charges to rent equipment from beach vendors were submitted. Tourists can still use a towel to lie down on, but any beach chairs they bring along with them will be forcibly removed by the police.
Now in a further move aimed at preventing a resurgence of touts appearing to rip off tourists once again, authorities have ordered the removal of all the sand on west coast beaches much to the consternation of the tourist industry.
It's unclear at the moment as to what depth the removal will take but reports indicate that the sand will be shipped to China to be used there in a theme park.
I would think authorities should be more concerned and do something about the dangerous water over there
Pardon? Dangerous water?
Also, why do I suspect this is a joke article? How can you just straight up remove sand from a beach? What's supposed to be the substrate now? Gravel? It makes no sense.

"Members of the most prestigious local commercial consortium, the Anti Sand-based Business Operators League (ABSOL) today welcomed the removal of the sand."
