It's a discussion forum, explanations are sort of a key part of a discussion.

Thinking is a good start...

As for Texas, I'd love to see Dallas, Houston, San Antonio (I heard the River Walk is outstanding), Padre Island, and the rest of the Gulf Coast, as well as The Alamo. Western part, like El Paso? Eh, not so much. Same with the panhandle. Well... maybe in the spring to chase tornadoes.
I agree. I would choose hot over cold.

Yes, San Antonio River Walk is quite nice and there are lots of things to see and do in those other cities. Let me know if you decide to go and I'll be glad to give you some recommendations.

Will do. It may be awhile though.

Are there any places you (maybe irrationally) refuse to visit over the years?
Africa, most of Asia and the majority of South America hold no interest for me. I'd like to see Buenos Airies, Hong Kong, Macchu Piccu and Japan, but outside that no thanks.

I really have zero interest in spending the precious little vacation time I have each year visiting some crime-ridden cesspool where the majority of the population lives in abject poverty. I saw enough of that in Detroit, and it is nowhere near the levels of misery you would find in the Third World.

Cape Town is very beautiful. I highly recommend it.

No need to respond if you intend to say something like "all places are beautiful and unique in their own ways and I am willing to visit anywhere given the chance". This post is more about eccentricities of people.
Due to safety concerns I have no desire to visit the Middle East. That region is too unstable for my liking. I also don't have much desire to see much of North and Central Africa for the same reasons. The Caribbean is not high on my list of places to see but if I had the opportunity I would go.

It's much easier and faster for me to list the places I'd like to visit.

USA
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Western Europe
Japan

I have almost zero interest in going anywhere else.

Youngstown OH. Went there forty years ago and was not impressed. It's only gotten worse since.

1) I wouldn't go anywhere where it would be potentially dangerous to be American.

2) Been to Bermuda via a cruise and was not impressed at all but I would consider checking out other places in the Caribbean.

3) No interest in Latin America, Africa (except for SA--a band I'm following is from there) or Asia

4) Not interested in inland USA--the big draw for me would be the coast of a large body of water, i.e. the Great Lakes, the Gulf or the Oceans. I live about an hour + away from the LI Sound and it kills me being so far away from water!
