Why? I think those countries have a very interesting culture that is unlike anything else in the world, it's a crossroad of Arabic, Chinese, Persian, and Russian culture, how amazing is that! If I had the money, the Stans would be at the top of my list to visit

Canadian prairies, they're cold, expensive flights, lots of mosquitoes, nothing exciting to do, etc. It's like a colder version of the Midwest

Anywhere in the Midwest that's not Chicago or Minneapolis

Anywhere in the Great Plains except Colorado

Northern Mexico, nothing exciting there and also don't wanna get kidnapped

Anywhere in Florida that's not Miami or the Keys

El Salvador or Venezuela because I don't wanna die

Anywhere in the Middle East/Arabian peninsula except Dubai, altho Iran+Turkey+Lebanon would be amazing to visit if the safety situation improves soon

Greenland because cold+expensive

Any part of Europe that is cold+expensive

Any part of Asia that is cold+expensive

Out of fear for my own personal safety (wars, violence, ultra conservatism, etc) and that of my fellow traveling friends, I would not set foot in most of the moslem majority countries.

Before people start calling this a racist post, I have NO problems with them. Actually I work with many who follow Islam and they are great humans but many of those same individuals would not want to travel to these nations with their women and kids for the same reasons.

You should make it a life goal to overcome this fear by forcing yourself to take a trip to China.

They are just people too (granted a lot more of them and with some irritating cultural nuances) and China is a big diverse country with lots of cool things to see. Plus, you can order fried rice on the cheap to make it feel like home, or just go to McDonalds or KFC.

Some of those shots are actually quite handy to have even in the US.

For example hep A/B is good for a really long time and many people don't get it unless they are traveling overseas, but people in the United States do sometimes get hepatitis from blood or food.

Curious = if you don't want to go to China that is all well and good plenty of other places to vacation but what exactly are you guys so frightened of?

China gets almost 100 million tourists per year, I'm pretty sure it is the number one tourist destination in the world. All these people from all over the world families with kids etc. go to China on holiday and there are a couple of people saying it is rational to be fearful to go because not a democracy, this doesn't make much sense to me. My parents went a few years ago and they are in their 70s, they had a great time on the Great Wall, seeing the Terra Cotta Warriors, etc.

Are you thinking that out of all those millions you'll be picked up and interrogated or something?

What's wrong with going to Bali? (Okay, maybe too many drunken Australians there) Or Malaysia?
