For whatever reason, some people just hate the idea of visiting certain places. Some people simply refuse to go to developing countries, some hate to visit big cities such as Paris or New York, many don't want to go to any mountains. For myself, the one place I absolutely refuse to go to is the Caribbean's.
Are there any places you (maybe irrationally) refuse to visit over the years?
No need to respond if you intend to say something like "all places are beautiful and unique in their own ways and I am willing to visit anywhere given the chance". This post is more about eccentricities of people.
Definitely not the middle east, africa, asia or south america. My travel is limited to the North America, Europe, and maybe Australia/NZ.
Lots of India bashing, I can live with that.. heat, beggars, filth, poverty I agree but sexual assaults not as rampant as it's made out to be.

This compares to a reported rape rate of 1.2 per 100,000 in Japan, 3.6 per 100,000 in Morocco, 4.6 rapes per 100,000 in Bahrain, 12.3 per 100,000 in Mexico, 24.1 per 100,000 in United Kingdom, 28.6 per 100,000 in United States, 66.5 per 100,000 in Sweden, and world's highest rate of 114.9 rapes per 100,000 in South Africa.
Even with under reporting, the rate doesn't compare anywhere close to US or UK. That involving foreign tourists are isolated incidents which could happen to anyone, anywhere and if it does happen though it's very unlikely that one is cut into pieces and disposed off in trash bags.
If you're willing to break loose of your stereotypical western mindset, get out of your cold heated homes, venture beyond your over civilized under humanized society, ready to explore the unknown, experience the real humanity at close quarters in all its moods, colors and warmth, then hop onto Air India right away. You're least likely to encounter an air hostess tossing a water bottle or a peanut sachet as if you were a pain in the *** but you'll be greeted genuinely, served your food and drinks respectfully and treated like a real guest.
Nowhere in the world you'll see beggars who are happier than you, street dogs who are more content than your pampered pets back home and people who are more than willing to share their only meal with you if you're ever hungry. You'll complain less, share a little, laugh a lot and start living a life all over again.

In my experience beggars are not usually that happy.
Zero interest at all in seeing Yellowstone National Park? I'd go there in a heartbeat if it weren't a little difficult and expensive to get to, from where I live.

I agree with you. I visited India 3 times and loved it every single time. People were just kind and friendly, and the food was excellent. Good grief, I'm still dreaming of that lamb Biryani from Arsalan in Kolkata, or the fried fish from Pal's fish fry in Mumbai.
I won't go any place where they don't speak English as a native language (just because I am TERRIBLE with languages); I won't visit the deep South (six months in Alabama in 1973 was six months too long); and I won't visit anywhere that is a desert or is "hot and humid" (after I visit DC and Colonial Williamsburg this summer, that is) because I absolutely cannot stand high temperatures!
