Cant answer about Tuesday night but I did Austin on a random Fri night once and it felt like a major festival was happening. Certainly should be more exciting than Bricktown, though I can't comment on Durango.

Yeah, I think Nashville Fri night and then NOLA is really pushing it. Unless you guys have somebody with the ability to drive with a hangover and no sleep.

Is it impractical to do Friday night in Nashville & then sat and Sunday in Nola?
Hummmm... that puts a different spin on things. Austin is definitely a great place and I know you mentioned heat is not an issue for you but it will be hot with a capital "H". Colorado should be sublime that time of year. Never spent too much time in OKC, so I can't help you there.

Planning a roadie is great fun, doing a roadie even more fun. Enjoy.

Austin is also very hot in August, so I don't recommend it then. If it were me traveling in August, I would skip NO, OKC, Nashville and Austin due to the heat and spend my time in Durango. Either that or change the date of my trip.

I'm in Austin. Tuesday night won't be anything too special even with UT in school, but bars will still be open and there will be music somewhere. Weekends and Thursdays are THE time to be downtown if you want a wild time. It will be very hot here then, that's for certain. We've always got COLD Barton Springs Pool and Lake Travis, though...and the lake finally has water in it again!! You can check the Chronicle closer to time to see what might be going on when you're here. http://www.austinchronicle.com

I think will skip Austin unless I do Nola, heat for me is not an issue. How is Nashville on Sunday night? Not sure if we should do two nights there and head out sunday or 3 and head out Monday.

I could do a week in NOLA and never touch Bourbon Street (and I like to party.)

Thank you everyone for your help, we decided on New Orleans. Probably will head right to Vegas after and spend a day in Durango area. Austin is still a possibility.
