Which side? Perth (west side) is in a Mediterranean zone, my choice in Australia, but not the East Coast! Too much humidity for me!

That's tough. I really, really liked Australia when I lived there for a few months, but its so far out of the way from my family/friends. Still, it would be high on my list. If not there, then perhaps Bermuda (its, de facto, a country) or Mexico.

First choice would be Germany because I can speak the language, preferably in Düsseldorf because I know my way around.

Second choice would be Canada, New Brunswick or Nova Scotia.
