Yeah, this is important. It uses satellite so even offline, the GPS marker on Google Maps works in real time and you can find your way with it, free of data charges. Even if you have an iPod Touch, you can use it offline no problem.

By offline do you mean when the app isn't open? Anytime I want to use the app I have to open it and incur data charges so I'm not sure what you mean when you say I can find my way with it free of data charges. Actually the app does use a lot of data so especially when overseas I have to be careful and use it only when I absolutely need it.
