Siberia in January will be a heck of a shock to you but I guess that's part of the appeal. With these kinds of short internships you want to see things as different as they are back home, and while Mauritius and Sri Lanka will also be different, Russia in winter should be quite an experience.
Was thinking about Trans Siberia Moscow to Krasnoyarsk. 2 days and 5000 km.

Well I can imagine it would be a Shock. The coldest I have experienced is -5C.

I've been to Russia and to Sri Lanka, but not Mauritius.

Please don't dismiss Sri Lanka, it is in many ways a lovely and interesting country with a very long history. It is mostly a Buddhist country and there are Buddhist monuments that are nearly 2,000 years old. I spent most of the time not in rather boring capital city of Colombo, but in the pretty city of Kandy overlooking a large lake in the mountains. Kandy is the home of The Temple Of The Tooth, a very holy Buddhist shrine with daily pageantry. Near Kandy is a large botanical garden that amazed me ... one of the finest in the world.

You couldn't pay me enough to be in Siberia in January. Coming from Malaysia, you probably won't find thick enough winter clothes in your country that's suitable for Siberian winter. But then again, coming from Malaysia, I understand the allure that Russia has compared to the other two places.

That is a good point. And clothes are expensive in Russia.

Also might want to bring lots of vitamins so that hopefully you don't catch colds. But the weather would likely be a painful experience for you. Is there a chance you can go not in a winter?
