What do you think Paris will be like in the summer? Talking about in relation to the terrorist attack. Do you think everything will be back to normal? I read that many people have already cancelled vacations but I'm assuming that is for december or something. I would think the tourism industry, the city itself, etc. would bounce back by summer? Or are people who would go this summer not going to go, in your opinion or based on what you or people you know are going to do?

I know people that recently went to Paris, right after the attacks. And all was fine. I wouldn't hesitate.

Me too--went from Rome to Paris the day after the attacks. She said it was fine.

It's probably safer, if anything. As in, I would imagine the chances of another similar attack happening in the same city to make a similar statement -whatever that might have been- will be afforded a new larger buffer for Paris. Also, the chances of a couple of days to a week of your life falling on the exact time and place of one of these things is so remote regardless.

I was at the bombing site in Bangkok two weeks after it occurred in August. People thought I was crazy but I felt the same as Jesse44 above....very very unlikely that it would happen in the exact same spot again.

I'd say Paris is safer now than before and certainly would go. I might actually try for a spring weekend.

Honestly, I was thinking of the same, a quick Euro getaway somewhere for a week early next year and Paris was my top choice. Like others have said, it's probably safer now than before, and I live stateside, you hear this stat of there being 350+ mass shootings in 336 days this year, I'm no less safe in Paris than I am in my own country. I love Paris, but just like any metropolitan city, use caution and common sense.

I went to Paris this summer, which is approximately 6 months after Charlie Hebdo attack.

It was normal.

The thing about terrorism is that the events can be random. Recently it was Paris, but where next? London? Rome? Berlin?

I guess the main thing would be to avoid crowded areas, if possible.

I am going in 4 days.

The attack has absolutely zero impact on my decision to visit it (for the second time). If my ticket was for Oct 14, I would still go even if the airlines allows me to cancel.

Bad things happen. Chances that there is a terrorist attack during your stay which directly threatens your safety is probably lower than you being hit by a car tomorrow.
