Wow. I'd love to visit all those and share your interest in ..interesting places. It would be so hard to pick. I'd have to narrow the list somehow, so I'd start with maybe, which of those might not be around much longer, or into the future whenever you'd have a chance to go again? Or which might be less accessible in the future? Then I'd use other criteria to narrow the list more, like, I don't like visiting cold climates, but I might if it was a free trip. After that, no idea. What a neat thing to have to figure out. Your brother sounds like a keeper!
Please let us know what you decide! And an update when you return from your trip would be awesome too! With pics!
Yemen and Iran? Really? I thought that I was the only crazy person who would be interested in going somewhere like that. LOL.
If you want to go to that part of the world, I recommend Israel. You can go to areas that are very Arabian and other areas that are very cosmopolitan/international and still other areas that are very ancient or rural.
The food is great, there are beaches, English is widely spoken and they are used to tourists and pilgrims.
It will be lots of fun!
To give you an idea, other places I've considered (I haven't ruled them out, so feel free to give me endorsements for them):
Argentina
Chile
and/or a road trip between Argentina and Chile
Beautiful countries, but a tip: a road trip may be a lot more hassle than it's worth in fees and paperwork. You could take the usual bus routes between the two countries and drive separate road trips in each (the most common routes for travelers crossing the border are probably Santiago < - > Mendoza and Puerto Natales < - > El Calafate. For something a bit different, try the crossing between the Atacama desert and La Salta (the Argentine region home to Torrontes).
Some South Pacific island. Bora Bora, Fiji, Tahiti, Vanuatu etc.
Something really off the wall?
Palmyra Atoll. You need permission from the Nature Conservancy or the Dept of Interior I think first. I think the only way there is by boat but there might be a way to charter a plane there as there is a runway. Excellent opportunity for solitude and fishing.

And you can do side trips to Jordan and maybe Egypt...
