Has anyone ever gone here for a meal? It looks neat and I am looking at options to surprise my husband for his 40th birthday. Also if anyone has suggestions for a b&b or inn or hotel to stay in while there. Also other activities to do in the area.

Note: I posted a similar post in the Massachusetts forum but only received one response. Hopefully someone here can help?

Thanks!

Nicole

I have family that lives in the area, so I'll contact them and ask.

What would be helpful to know in order to make suggestions are the time of year, length of stay, whether you enjoy quiet nature or rowdy high-energy entertainment (or something in between :-)

Sorry. We are going at the end of April-staying two nights Fri-Sun. It is for my husbands 40th birthday- I am surprising him- and on Friday I am surprising him with a meal atop the light house. We would need a nice-preferably romantic place to stay-looking probably to walk around the town and check things out. Maybe go for a hike or walk on the beach on Saturday.

I would say mostly quiet in nature not looking for anything too rowdy. Since we are eating in the Lighthouse on Friday, maybe Saturday dinner would be more laid back-a nice grill or pub type place to sit back and relax.

Thanks again!

Nicole

You know, it's typical that when you live somewhere you don't seem to soak up the local life .. that's the scoop for my family's experience with Newburyport! They didn't know that dinner was served at the lighthouse, and when my mother asked her girlfriends about it, they didn't know either! But we all agree that it should be well-worth it!

As for B&Bs, there are many in the area. I'll presume you've done some online searching, but just in case you haven't, here's a site ...
Newburyport Bed and Breakfasts

Things to do -- definitely Plum Island
Plum Island - Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry (http://www.newburyportchamber.org/plum_island.shtml - broken link)

Maudslay State Park is really nice, too.

Dining options are many ... the Newburyport Chamber of Commerce site has a good list.
Dining in Greater Newburyport - Newburyport Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Bob Lobster sounds like a nice place if you enjoy seafood
Bob Lobster Home (http://www.boblobster.com/index.htm - broken link)

This will be such a great surprise birthday weekend! I'll bet it'll be hard to contain yourself and not give it away :-)
