Absolutely. The buying power of the Canadian dollar is down 25% in the past 18 months.

You also see an increase is US travelers overseas.

You will not see an increase in the Canadian dollar until oil prices increase substantially.

Or until we diversify our economy beyond mostly resource extraction.

^^^

I must admit that the current exchange rates are making me reconsider changing my summer vacation plans from Utah's Cache Valley to the Canadian Rockies/Calgary/Edmonton.

I am from Canada and I have zero interest in Florida. I would not visit it even if the flight costs $50. There are hundreds of much more interesting places to see than Florida. Why waste time in Florida?

I don't understand why Canadians flock their every winter like that's the end of the earth. It's very bizarre to me.

No, it is down by 25% only if they travel to the US (or wherever uses USD).
I have zero interest in visiting the US any more so the exchange rate doesn't really affect me much.

Maybe they have friends and family in the state that they would like to visit or they enjoy the weather and scenery of wherever in state they choose to go. Just because you don't have a reason to visit doesn't mean that the place isn't worth visiting.
