Trying to plan a trip and I was wondering which do you all suggest visiting. Amsterdam is a must as my husband is dying to visit. But I didn't know if we should do Amsterdam and Prague or Amsterdam and Barcelona. I'd like to visit both but obviously can't this time and would like other's experience on which they've preferred.

Thanks!

Both terrific; IMO Barcelona has more variety and is less overwhelmed by tourists because of its size, but it also requires more navigation. Time of year can be important too - Barcelona can be hot in the summer, although there are beach towns close by. Prague is much colder in the winter. When are you going and how long do you have for the trip?

A week total, so about 3-4 days in each place. I'm thinking mid to late May.

Thanks for your help!

Never been to Prague but have been in both Amsterdam and Barcelona in May. Weather was perfect and itís the shoulder season so not as many tourists as in the summer. I would go back to either if the opportunity was there.

I could spend the entire week in either location and probably would rather than split the time.

Prague is excellent. I would recommend it over Barcelona everytime. However, Amsterdam and Prague would be more similar to each other (although still quite different) than Amsterdam and Barcelona would...but I'd go with Prague personally.

I haven't been to Barca so can't compare, but Prague is definitely worth a trip! It had definitely been hyped up to me over the years so I had supremely high expectations and amazingly it did not disappoint when I went in 2014. I hear it has changed tremendously over the past 10-15 years and is far more touristy, so perhaps you want to go now before it becomes too much like the Western European stalwarts in popularity and price.

That said, I would love to go to Barca.

I found Amsterdam kinda boring to be honest and much prefer Barcelona. The food in Barcelona is also much better than Amsterdam. The popular local food in Amsterdam like rizstafel and stuff, they're really from Indonesia. In Barcelona, plenty of delicious local cuisine, especially their seafood.

I've never been to Prague and likely won't be on my list anytime soon since I heard it's similar to Amsterdam.

I've been to both and enjoyed both cities. I guess I give the slight edge to Prague - I just enjoyed the middle European style more and it's history, it also seemed more walkable and accessable (relatively speaking, because Barcelona also has La Rambla and it's own rich history including even some ancient Roman sites).
If I had a choice I would chose Prague and Barcelona frankly and skip Amsterdam (maybe because I've been there more times than I can count).

I vote you go to Barcelona. We went there in November and loved it. I haven't been to Prague, but I doubt is has the equivalent of the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Park Guell, the Picasso Museum, or La Ramblas. There is other Gaudi architecture there to see as well. Plus just walking around the Gothic Quarter was interesting to me.
