okay so id did some research, because my school is offering studying abroad in London for 5,700 for 5 weeks, which pays for tickets, board, a grocery car, and transportation. But i have a friend saying it would be better for me to just spend a week there BY MYSELF, but that came out to about 2,022. to mean i think studying there through my school would be cheaper in the overall picture for the length I would be staying

Go for the five weeks; better price per night there and IMO, a week in London is not going to be enough, especially when you're fighting off jet lag for a day or two at the start. And you're unlikely to have a chance to spend five weeks abroad once you hit the workforce unless your job takes you on a special project for your employer.

If lodging and Oyster card are covered, then there are a ton of free things to do in the city, even if it's just wlaking around interesting neighborhoods and seeing what's there.

Plus, five weeks lets you do one or two cheap weekend trips elsewhere in the region- just understand how the Ryanair (makes Spirit look nice and reasonable to work with) and easy jet rules work so that you aren't paying more in baggage and check-in fees than you paid for the plane ticket to France or Germany.
