Hi folks. I went in the kitchen for a minute. But now I'm back in my chair in front of this computer.

Thanks for letting us know, I was worried about you, since you had not posted anything in over 10mins .....

Lol, I don't know either. None of the OP's initial post or responding posts seem to make sense.

I think it's common courtesy to notify your loved ones that you arrived safely. If you overdo it they'll understand. They know and love you and are used to rolling their eyes at you. But they expect it of you. Don't stop.

If my guy can't reach me on my drive home he starts to panic and plans a search party (of one) to look in the ditches along the freeway. In the mean time I just have the radio cranked up. lol

Wink Seems excessive. I call my mom on her Birthday and Mother's day, isn't that sufficient?

Sending a notification seems excessive.

The people that need to, know what flights I am on. If the plane crashes, it'll be on the news.

If my plane crashes, my kids will be all tense, sitting on the edges of their seats, waiting to find out what they inherited.

OK, sorry I was gone for a bit. I had to run to the grocery store since I never got there this weekend. I am safely home now. All safe and sound. Tomorrow is supposed to snow pretty significantly, so I shall check in here to let you know when I am home from work....or not.

On your iPhone is a "find friends" app. If you add someone as your friend, you can see where they are at any given moment. One of my sons (the one who lives closest) has me listed on his "find friends" all the time. If one of them cannot get a hold of me, they can contact him and he can look up where I am. They have never had to use it, but it's a built in safety net for me. I do not have them listed, simply because I do not necessarily care to know where they are 24/7. They are all adults and do not need mommy looking over their shoulders.

we travel a lot and the only people we inform of our travel plans are our children. No mass texts, no sappy post on facebook or staged photo on instagram.....just a simple group text to the kids..."hey, we left and we'll call when we get there". Nothing more, nothing less.

They do the same when traveling, however they do post it on social media as well as a family group text.

How did we travel so many years ago without the aid of social media and cell phones???? I grew up without a cell phone, drove without a cell phone, went to school and work without a cell phone....I survived. Parents today, who like me grew up without cellphones, swear their children NEED cell phones in order to survive. smh

I travel a lot so I tell my wife every time I land somewhere. I figure if someone else needs to know, she'll tell them.
